I've been greatly influenced by Meshell's music, politics & musicianship since I first heard her albums when I was a teenager in the 90's. Which is why I am so honored and excited that my band, Black Blondie, is opening for her this Nov. 15 in Minneapolis, MN.
Check out our music on our website: myspace.com/blackblondiemusic ...and if you are in town, be sure and arrive at the show early so you can catch our set! Black Blondie is: Samahra // vocals Tasha Baron // keys Liz Draper // electric and upright bass Kahlil Brewington // drums Namaste, Tasha Baron |

When you emailed and told me your band was selected to open for Meshell in Minneapolis, I dropped everything and made reservations to fly out to finally see you and your band perform. That is why I'm coming to Minneapolis.
After I saw Deantoni Park's band KUDU open for Meshell in Sacramento and Portland, I had no choice but to make one of these four midwest shows to see what it would be like if Deantoni Parks was played for Meshell. I originally hoped for Minneapolis, but since it was about $200 more, I chose Chicago instead. That worked out because I'd also get to meet Imi and Lisa. Then Derek found a way to fit it into his budget and schedule, so it's turning into what should be a great experience -- and little of that really has to do with Meshell. Her music is just the catalyst that is bringing us all together over a period of a couple of days. But yeah, I had no plans on coming to Minneapolis at that point. Until I received your email with the great news. All of us wish we had a story like that to tell. I wish everyone could come to this show. And that's not the vicodin talking |

wish i could hit the Minneapolis show too...being a (currently frustrated) Vikings fan, an old school Prince fan, and a happy Meshell fan ...all that would made that gig extra extra cool.
Black Blondie (love the name btw) i would've enjoyed seeing you do your thing opening for our girl, but i can't make it this time, maybe next go round! This message has been edited. Last edited by: derek, |
