just a little tidbit on last friday's show at irving plaza. the set by meshell short and funky. she only performed 5 numbers. there was a new bass man, taurus mateen, who held it down. the new band seems to be jelling. chris dave, not enough can be said. he is on his own little funky planet of drums. the highlight of the show...meshell stepped back and let k'alyn perform a number from his soon to be released cd. yes, he is ready to drop another. the tune entitled "reflections" the set: satisfy me quinten mack better by the pound (slow and funky) god, fear & money reflections (k'alyn) fellowship soulive - they are an experience. you have to see them live to fully appreciate what they are capable of. neal(keys) is sooo amazing. i just stood in awe. peace

i saw the sat. show. it was a delight to see meshell, as usual. there were lots of the pajama people there. i got the impression they, like most of the world, failed to appreciate(or even really acknowledge) the beauty of this artist's gift. the band was good. though, i still yearn for federico, gene and cato at her side. all i can say about soulive is that i left before the finished. glad to here there are more dates this summer, too.
