Hi, everybody,
I saw Me'Shell and SMJ last year in Wiesen/Austria and this year in Zurich/Swizerland. Both times they played a title I dont know from any recording. Lately I could watch the Montreaux concert from July 2004. They played that very song beginning 1 hour 13 min from the start. Great bassline, african brass phrasing, I love it. What's it called, who wrote it?? Keep grooving Rana |

Hello Rana,
I think the tune you cited may be 2nd part of "Al-Falaq 113". It is not on the studio-recording album DANCE OF THE INFIDEL. But we were also able to listen to it from ASCENSEUR POUR LE JAZZ of radio france on 17 September. (thanks a lot! Sebastien) The tune did follow 1st part of "Al-Falaq 113" that had same configuration as studio-recording take. And the connection of part 1 and 2 was more natural than on Montreux 2004. I'm sorry if the tune had a unique title... And now, you can listen to the studio recording "Dr. Strange" and "Dragon Run" on allmusic.com. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:1bkxu32aan5k http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:fjfyxq9sldfe And also I think that the 1st tune on Motreux 2004 is "Sonic Tonic" on Ron Blake's album SONIC TONIC, isn't it? |
