this has been in the discography for a couple of weeks now, but due to the constant changes with everything regarding this release, i was hesitant to announce anything (even after reading yesterday's announcement in billboard).
check the discography for int'l release dates, including the name of the bonus track... |

According to Amazon UK, the CD is available on September 10th- anyone know if this is reliable?
Also, what's up with the final track they have listed??? http://www.amazon.co.uk/World-Has-Made-Man-Dreams/dp/B0...id=1187218862&sr=1-2 |

That answers two of the questions that I've been waiting over a week for an answer for. Thanks.
Don't know about the reliability of the release date for the European release. And besides, if you're going to fork over that much for it, why not get either the Japanese or Deluxe Version with the bonus track that's not available on either the European or non-deluxe domestic version? As for the final track, that's just what Meshell's renamed it to. That's what happens to a finished product over a long period of time. She renames (Blacknuss-/+Michelle Johnson) or just removes (Middle Earth) songs altogether. I'm still hoping that the bonus track on the Limited Edition is different than the one that's on the Japanese release. |

No problem- I'm in Europe, so can't decide whether to have it shipped from the UK, or wait the extra two weeks and buy it from Amazon in the States- which, oddly enough, could be the less expensive option... Probably best to hang on and see if they actually start shipping it on the 10th to begin with!

I'm guessing it will be released in Europe on the 10th, but I don't know for sure. All I know is that I'd want one of the versions (or both, as I've ordered both) that has the bonus track

yeah man...ditto on the bonus track. I'm trying to hold out on ordering to see if they provide more info on the various bonus track(s). If each version has DIFFERENT bonus tracks, thats good and bad in a way...GOOD because it means MORE music...bad because it means obsessed cats like me will probably order TWO different versions just to have both tracks...
(and thanks M for providing an easy link with the search already in place that includes the different versions available...thats some customer service right there man! when i decide which one(s) to get, i'll definitely do it through the link here at FMH.) ...of course, if there were indeed TWO 'bonus' tracks availabe that they always planned on including, IDEALLY they'd just put em BOTH on all of the versions of the CD. But then...were would the fun be in that? That would be wayy too logical honestly, in general i always wonder how these 'bonus tracks' come about. Are they often songs that work well on their own, but didn't quite flow in with the rest of the record...so instead they are just added in on the end as 'bonuses'? If so then yeah, add em ALL in on ALL versions of the disc. Maybe there's a timing issue in different regions or something where certain places wouldn't be able make the release date if they were to add the 'bonus' tracks in at the last sec, where other regions have the ability to add them and meet their release date. OR is it something else...to put my conspiracy theorist helmet on...I'm wondering if perhaps instead maybe its not a timing issue at all...maybe at that point is when 'the suits' and marketers get involved and say '...lets spread these individually over DIFFERENT versions of the cd internationally and make knuckleheads like derek track em ALL down...hehehehhhh.$$$$' Hmmm...guess we'll never know... I just thought about something, I wonder if the bonus track(s) will be avaialable on itunes? I mean so far, itunes was the only place i found Meshells version of 'Imagine'. I also went to Itunes and picked up her coool version of 'Compared To What' which i HIGHLY recomend to folks. (It's on the "Talk To Me" soundtrack which as a whole is a great collection of older tracks by legendary artists. But since I had most of those tracks already on different releases iTunes made it wayyy easy, logical and financially efficient for me to just go and grab the one new tune included on the CD that i didn't have (meshells track) instead of paying for the whole cd.) but i'm off topic here now... here's hoping we get some more info on the mysterious bonus track(s) and what will be where...then i'm clicking m's link and ordering my goodies and waiting by the mail |

Hey Derek, I never thought to check itunes for those tracks by meshell, or featuring her. I definitely would have saved a lot of money. But I did appreciate that by checking out these other artist that she worked with I was introduced to artist I would have never brought.Yes I to,am crazy about her music, so I would if have to, purchase them all, it just comes with the territory of the love of her music. So I'll be checking high and low for whatever the extra music comes from, as always.

i've requested the info twice now, i think i'm not being told for a reason -- probably to get people to do what i did and order both.
i think the safe thing to do is to order the deluxe version and wait to see what the bonus track is on it... kind of frustrating, but rahsaan patterson did the same thing with his last album. ended up with about 5 or 6 bonus tracks -- and they were all great, so even though it cost about $50 in the long run, it was worth it in the end. speaking of which, that 2004 album of his is on the way from australia -- hopefully with more bonus tracks. i can't wait until sep25 for his new album. would be nice if they crossed paths during her upcoming tour so i could catch both of them in the same city on different nights... i like how the price keeps going down for the different versions at amazon... and that i don't have to cancel and Re-order again because the prices also gets lowered for everyone with pre-orders... |

Hey Matthew, I just checked Barnes and Noble for Meshell's new cd, and they have a special edition of her cd which contains 2disc. Maybe this will be the deluxe edition that Amazon has.If not I guess I'll be ordering 4 disc instead. Please check this out.

well, unless management decides to clue me in on what these special editions include, i'm not going to know anything until someone has it in their hands.
i'm at bn.com looking at the "special edition" like you requested and it provides no further information than what management has provided... which is nothing. |

looks like the hunt is on...
hmm here's a thought...(and it's just me theorzing again, based on no knowledge whatsoever...so take it with a grain of salt and now, it seems that there may potentially actually be an entire bonus DISC (not just a bonus track) on at least one version of the release, right? well WHAT IF that bonus disc is not a song titled 'A Different Girl Every Night' but rather a live recording of the BAND 'A Different Girl Every Night'? Remember the first lineup of her Band was named 'A Different Girl Every Night' back around the time when the studio record was being recorded (when that amazing guitarist Mike Severson was playing regularly with her)...maybe this mysterious second disc contains some live performances of that lineup? Maybe the Japanese listing of a 'bonus track' is just a mix-up in translation (maybe its really a bonus disc')? maybe i've got too much time on my hands this morning...and maybe i need to get off my arse and get some work done around the house? yeah...that last one is probably the most plausible... in the absence of facts, random rumors will run amok and thrive...heheh...and i probably just started some I'm just guessing & hoping folks... let the hunt for actual info continue... |

there's actually a song entitled "a different girl"... i'm kind of surprised that it ended up on the album (even as a bonus track...) i think you'll understand when you hear it. |

woohoo! m, thanks for the heads-up on everything...you are the man dude!
I've already pre-ordered one copy of the US limited edition through FMH...can't order the Japanese version just yet, but probably will eventually (currently broke from the family vacation but as for the Limited edition...all i have to say is...SOUL SPACESHIP!!! you know, its funny because Friday, i was driving around windows open BLASTING the Zurich show and when Soul Spaceship came on i wondered again why that great song wasn't included on the initial studio tracklisting that was posted a while back (i think it was posted at the Japanese site)...such an instantly catchy tune on so many levels...and now it looks like it WILL be on the limited edition, which is great news indeed! kinda too bad that there wasn't really an entire TWO DISC set like Barnes & Noble mistakenly had posted though...that would have been extra sweet... |

as for your feelings regarding the non-2-cd set, meshell's manager echoed your sentiments... it sounds like she's kind of like us... that it's nice to have a new album, but we wouldn't mind a 20-cd retrospective either

Great news, Great news, Matthew you know I was floored as soon as I read that "soul Spaceship" was the chosen bonus track, I mean I had already ordered the limited edition and then to hear that a another great song had made the disc, despite no 2nd disc just melted the cold fact that so many days are keeping me from having the music in my hands. So I immediately ordered the japanese version.(Hey Derek I understand about the waiting because of money- I just sent my youngest off to college, but hey this is Meshell, and I need some satisfaction)-just waiting calmly by the mail box.

I've just been on Amazon.com, and the prices have dropped: $13.99 for the regular release, and $12.99 for the limited edition softpack... does that make "Soul Spaceship" less than worthless?
As I understand, anyone who's already ordered will be billed at the lower price come shipping time. Now, if we could just get a dollar or ten off the Japanese version... |

i've learned (for the most part) over the years not to quote prices on amazon when i post information because they change daily it seems. before making the announcement on amazon, i was waiting to hear back from management about one more thing before making the blog entry which took me about an hour to write up. the next day when i gave up waiting and posted it, i had to go back and remove the price right afterwards because the price had changed (again). i like it because it's only good for consumers.
the nice thing is that the earlier you pre-order something, the better chance you have at getting the lowest price, because whatever price that hits the lowest between the date you pre-ordered it and the street (release) date, that's the price you pay. unfortunately, i live in one of the two states that pay tax for making purchases at amazon. i hope that after the limited edition sells out, amazon removes it from their listings as soon as possible so that there's no disappointed fans. i'm a little worried about that. however, management did say that they believed it to be limited to 1,000 so i went with that. hopefully it's 10,000. that number sounds more reasonable... 1,000 would make it an extremely difficult to find collector's item once it's sold out. |

I've received the album (Japanese Edition) from Tower Records Japan today.
It contains 13 tunes including "a different girl" in fact. Though Tower Records Japan did not say it contains bonus track. http://www.towerrecords.co.jp/sitemap/CSfCardMain.jsp?G...53&GOODS_SORT_CD=101 |
