As I mentionned in the concert's message board, Chris Dave wasn't in the Jamia's Crew, for the last parisian show et La Cigale.

I was wondering, if he couldn't make it just for that show, or if he will be missing for the whole new europeen tour...
So has anybody been shows or to the netherlands or to Istanbul ?

Does anybody have an explanation about this ?

(ANd for those who are missing him too, here's a nice little photo I found on the net !)

chris had a last minute schedule conflict and pulled out of the tour. he won't be on any of the remaining european dates; i don't know if he will be returning to the band or not. he has some big projects underway and so all we can do is wish him the best of luck and much success. in the meantime, hopefully people will be patient while meshell & the crew try to fill the void... and that is not an easy gig.

yes it's very sad to see that Chris wasn't there that night in Paris, and that we may never see him again in the Spirit Music Jamia, the magic wasnt just there in La Cigale, Chris missing but the new drummer made it very well too, he made his best with the help of Meshell and even Ron. We were accustomed to Chris (they played 5 times in Paris since last july so Smile) but Damion is HIGHLY welcomed too! I was less convinced by Gilmar Gomes, but anyway each new gig is a WHOLE new venture, never the same, always different and original.

Yes, Chapmanist, I share the sadness but also the last idea : the true nature of the SMJ is to make a new stuff at each show : Chris Dave was doing a lot in the magic, but nobody is unreplaceable (I'm not sure I can say this in english... Confused) even Meshell, if you realise that she isn't playing on some of the Cd's tracks, and that these are still really good tunes carrying her spirit !
I'm sure that this Damion will find his place too : again, he did very well, and it was surely not easy ! but yes as you say, We've seen Chris with the SMJ so many times in Paris for 1 year that we got used to his crazy way of playing ! (I'm curious to hear him again on these big projects of his)

So thank you Kt for this (sad ?) news, and well we'll be waiting with a lot excitment for the next news about meshell, the smj, as well as about chris (could they be all the same... This would mean that they will play together again !)

i am not part of meshell's management team any longer; i provide advice when asked, but am not steering the ship. i was only helping out on an interim basis following the end of the partnership with velour. i can only provide info and updates that are passed on to me.
peace
