Just wanted to thank Julie at Maverick for her continued updates of the bonus material Especially for those of us who missed out on the Comfort Woman tour... Who's with me? Show some love for Julie... P.S. So far she's put up 79 minutes worth of live material. That's twice as long as the album itself... (!)

word up!! i've said in other posts here as well as on other sites...i am LOVING this bonus content thing! And NOT just for selfish reasons you might think (like that i LOVE getting the live stuff...i DO but...)... no, I'm ALSO loving this because i think it's a GREAT idea! I think that the constantly changing songs that they are putting up adds incentive to folks who may be 'on the fence' about purchasing CW...it adds incentive to them to jump OFF of the fence and get the record ASAP lest they miss out on 'this weeks bonus track(s)'. As long as it remains exclusive, it continues to add more value to the already priceless CW record. The more that folks are aware of this exclusive bonus feature, (the gift that keeps on giving) the more likely they are to purchase CW THIS week instead of something else! AND it offers many folks who may not have the opportunity to catch a live gig themselves in person, the chance to get a taste of what Meshell Live is all about! I just think it's a great idea, and it's been executed very smoothly in my opinion. (I have experienced no technical difficulties at all on my part.) Julie, I am very curious as to how expensive it is for them to continue with this ...adding a new live (or outtake?) mp3 or two every week or two? I have no clue what type of investment that would be but i am kinda curious about these things. I think the key to making a return on that investment is by making sure that folks who havent bought the record are aware of the rotating bonus mp3s...if they know about it... they will come...they will buy CW...and thus be repaid back twice with the joy of CW itself AND some great rare bonus tracks! so thats where I'm seeing that we 'who already know about the bonus stuff' can help... by spreading the word by word of mouth, telling freinds, posting at different sites etc... let folks know about it...keep it going... I know we've been posting about this great feature at other sites and it seems to be starting to click now...people are realizing that they could miss their chance on a few tunes if they wait too long (there are a few okayplayer posts for example). So the more we keep the 'bonus' news out there, the more people are likely to hear about it and respond to it. The more folks repond to it, the more valuable the investment becomes and the more likely we are to have this bonus feature continue in some fashion... jeez...did i do it again? start rambling and babbling? yup...and this was supposed to be a well deserved THANK YOU to Julie. well dangit THANKS JULIE!!! This may sound weird, but I gotta say, i kinda felt like a 'proud family member' when i saw your name pop up as producer on the bonus content material...i was like...'heyyyy, that's our JULIE!! Cool!!" congrats Jewls, well done!

oh yeah...i'm all about the music, but while i was dling the latest tracks i decided to click on one of the bonus photo links at the bottom...man that first shot is cool as hell! the kinda close up shot of Meshell leaning over into the microphone holding it with one hand , while holding her bass in the foreground with the other hand...that shot did it for me...it captured all sides of the meshell live experience...that shot should be a poster or t-shirt or something. Is it downloadable as well? I didn't see if i could save it to my computer...i'll have to try that... anyway thanks again Julie!

Thank you Julie! I'm enjoying the bonus content too and I'm really glad you posted the tracks in MP3 format this time so that I can download them to my Mac and transfer them to my iPod. By the way, could somebody post the date and venue for the Chicago MP3s that were posted last week? ("Fool of Me", "The Way" and "Free My Heart") I usually type the venue and date in the ID3 tags of the files after I download them, but I forgot to do that last week!

This is such an amazing idea ... thank you Julie!!!!!!! As some folks around here may know, I'm a fiend for live Me'Shell stuff so this is just candy for the taking. I'm also letting peeps know word of mouth style, but like derek insinuated, it is not an effective marketing strategy (which I'm assuming it is ... I can't see Maverick doing this as a simple "thank you" to the die hard fans that have carried Me'Shell through all the years of non-promotion) unless you PUBLICISE IT. Which means spending money to get the word out in the end. but I won't get into that on this post. Let us rejoice in that this fabulous opportunity exists. It is brilliant and truly a blessing. THANK YOU JULIE!

quote: FYI, the date was 10-17-03, and the venue was House of Blues Chicago. And, I, too, thank Julie for all of her hard work. I'm having a ball, listening to the bonus content from the CD Debra

man...that instrumental 'intro', the first song of the currently posted bonus stuff is really amazing. beautiful stuff. Anyone know what it is (ie might it be one of the compositions from 'Papillon' ...is the title of it really 'intro' or is it something else?) whatever it is it's marvelous stuff...and thank you Julie again...all smiles here in richmond

Hello all - A few answers & an announcement - re: publicizing the bonus material Basically we publicize it on the website and on the sticker which is placed on the CD package. True, more publicity would have been great, I totally agree, but after the fact, i think it may be have been better after all, because it was very difficult to get the live recordings from the road. And even harder to get photos. So at least, there was no false advertising... Of course, tour conditions are always stressful, so it is understandable. Re: high retail price for Comfort Woman yup. agreed. Business owners had to weigh the options and figure out the best financial decision for their business. Hopefully, launching an $ 11.99 autographed cd sale on the site helped out some of you (although you still had to add shipping and handling costs… but at least it was autographed). That's all I could do on my end. Re: Bonus songs that some of you missed next week we will have a final update and after that we will rotate them one more time ***************************************** Now here is my announcement. As of December 8th I won't be working at Maverick anymore. This is a personal decision as I have been working here for 4 1/2 years and it time for me to move on and keep growing. It has been an AMAZING and REWARDING experience to be part of Meshell's career AND to interact with YOU the fans. I have learnt a lot and I admire each and everyone of you for being involved, voicing your opinions, and being so loyal to Meshell. Matthew, it goes without saying, but I will say it one more time. Your work and dedication are invaluable. Out of all the Maverick artist webmasters we work with, here at the label, you win! You are the MVP. No doubt. Thanks everyone and pat yourselves in the back. You deserve it. Julie

awww man OUR Julie is leaving? Julie I'm sad to hear this. If I may get sappy for a sec...I really do hope this means better things for you personally but I'm sad because I really do feel like over the years we've all gotten to know each other at least little bit, and in a way have become a weird type of family. And just as normal family would, occasionally some of us might dissagree on a thing or two, but you know what...thats what families do sometimes. But you know at the end of the day i know we ALL always had the same goal in mind, we all genuinely wanted the same thing...more success for Meshell. It's obvious that you cared Julie, and I'm pretty certain that that is a rare thing these days for folks inside the 'biz' part of the music biz. You cared about getting the good music heard and in a very challenging environment you were a vital part in helping many more folks get hipped to our girl who otherwise might not have. So handclaps to you Julie...good job! Again, I sincerely wish you much success to wherever you go (are you staying in the music biz or moving on to something else entirely?). Either way, wherever you move on to, let us know how it's all goin' for ya...drop on by and post if you can...hey, 'family' is always welcome. Good luck Julie, and thanks!!
