in the many years i've been coming here you'd THINK i had seen everything there is...but nope i'm always finding stuff i've never seen...

so my wife has to work late tonight which isn't too cool. But my kids are having some friends over and they are in the other room playing video games, and it's one of those rare nights when i left the office ON TIME and am not exhausted from working...

sooo... i actually had some real down time to go to my favorite site and snoop around for more than a few minutes at a time...i can actually surf it for more than a minute...

so just a few clicks in and what happens...i'm ALREADY reading an interview that i'd never read before and looking at a cool cover that i'd never seen before...the cover and article from the Jazziz magazine interview from 1997 where Joshua Redman, fresh off of just meeting Meshell and playing for the first time with her on her early record, interviews Meshell...

man it's just great stuff too, like i said ...cool cover and very cool interview knowing what we do about how they've worked together on multiple occasions since...and its kinda funny that i just happened to click on THAT particular interview right away, considering what she's doing these days and who she's working with now...

heheh...man reading it i just grinned...

...i suggest you go to the museum and look for that article titled "Me & Meshell" from Jazziz in 1997...read it for yourself, then go put her latest expression filled gift to us in the cd player and see if it doesn't bring an extra wide smile to your face...

...she MADE that shit happen didn't she?

gotta love it.

man it's a good time to be fan of her's.

As always thanks for sharing Meshell...

and as always, thanks for this site Matthew...

now, i'm off to snoop a bit more....

hah...yeah right...bad as meshel.com...Smile

like i said m, looks like I'm still playing catch-up to whats ALREADY here man...theres plenty of stuff i must have overlooked over the years, and stuff you've added as you got ahold of it...so like, since i initially came to the site years ago and snooped around then, these days when i come in and go to the museum section for instance, i usually don't think to look at the stuff dated from years back because i assumed i'd already seen them in my initial surfing way back when...but thats obviously not neccaserily the case because i'm guessing that you've probably been adding both new stuff AND older stuff as you get it...so that means thats All new to me man...

and you're thanking me for my patience...

its not like this is your job ya know...you are doing this on your own time and money simply out of appreciation of the music and it benefits us all in the biggest way...so thank YOU for the work you do to keep it going...

that's true. back when i got laid off after 9/11, i spent an unreal amount of time on the site because i went to the university of washington and used their news archives to find a ton of stuff that wasn't on the site. back then i'd spend more hours on the site than anything else... kind of silly i guess.

i actually got a note from her during that time telling me to go outside and enjoy myself Smile

i really owe the thanks to the people like derek and kt for supporting the site with knowledge and the financial donations. all i do is type in a few things and press upload... if it wasn't for their input (and others, of course) there probably wouldn't be a site.

but thank you the same for the kind words Smile
