Peace Folks-
I am requesting that folks in the above cities who would like to help promote our upcoming dates with the Spirit Music Sextet to contact me directly at ktaha911@yahoo.com. This isn't a Maverick Team or anything like that; this is just Meshell and me. We need your help to make these shows successful, so if you have some time and energy, please email me so we can talk.
Peace,
Kofi

Good thought kt. I wish I was going to ANY of these shows :-(

If the SPirit Ensemble decided to come through Northampton, MA (as Me'Shell usually does) I'll personally make sure that there is not a soul who doesn't know about it! *hint*

hey, does anyone know what's going on with meshell? i had tickets for her 4/13 show and she ended up canceling all of her hollywood shows... i was sad. i hope everything with her is okay. the guy at the knitting factory said it was due to lack of interest.

Kt you know I'm down for making sure adequate interest is there for the New Orleans shows. I know there'll be interest for the Jazz Fest, but it seems to me The Parish will be a better show. Hit me up for whatever you need.

in an effort to try to get meshell to bring the spirit music sextet to chicago, i'm listing a few jazz clubs here in town just incase chicago is being overlooked for fear of disinterest.. (i'm only speculating, obviously):

the green mill would be my first and foremost suggestion. it's one of my favorite places to listen to jazz.. albeit it's a bit small.

green dolphin street is another good one despite the images the review may conjure.

and another absolute favorite the hothouse which is where i saw mr. gil scott heron.

the cotton club is a southside favorite.

and there are several others

please.. bring that jazz to chicago! i'm dying to hear it. and i promise i'll do whatever i can to help!

be the change you wish to see in the world.. ~gandhi

Hey Deshi

I am with you. I will do anything for her to swing by Chicago.

Y'all can stay at my house. I'll get my mama to make y'all some food. Hell, y'all can play at my house. I guarantee it would be packed for blocks. lol.

But on the real, Meshell, you need to swing by your second home (ok, maybe third behind New York, I know how much you like it there). What is a Bashir tour without a stop in Chicago. Especially this time of year with the weather getting right and all.

PLEASE COME TO CHI-TOWN!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
(i have resorted to begging)

Peace and Love
Will

KT,
While the Jazz Fest wash out was a huge disappointment for me, the saturday night show was a blessing, and I'm very glad I made it. If I had known Me'Shell would be at Chez Voudun the night before I would have definitely been there. I'm so disappointed about that as well. However, I guess this just underscores the need for promotion and what not. I just wanted to let you know that, even though I didn't get your message in time, and didn't here from you all for the New Orleans trip, I'm always here to help with promoting on the grass roots level for Me'Shell et al. I love the music and I want to do whatever I can to make sure she has the oppertunity to spread those vibes.

Peace and blessings,

Jennifer

Matthew, I suspect that event was a last minute thing. She did the same set as at The Parish. I only found out about because some friends told me the next night at the Parish show.

yeah... i was trying to keep my public showing of frustration/disappointment to a minimal.

it doesn't make a difference if i show how i really feel about it... again, i do this for people like you... for the people that write articles about her that are looking for the real information about what she's up to, etc.

anyways, thanks for understanding. i'm going to shut up before i vent too much Smile

Peace All-
Thank yo all for your responses. I've emailed a number of you.. need to email you again (the flyers that were to be onthe way got messed up at the printers, so i ended up bagging it). As we progres, there will be tings to do for sure.

ABout Chez Voudun... that was something Bill Summers (Headhunters) contacted Meshell about directly; I would have let you know if it was a Meshell performance. From what I understand, she sat in on bass on a couple of tunes-- she did not do a set. I'll check though. THere was a house band led by Bill and other gust artists, so I'd be surprised if she did more than sit in on a couple of songs... especially with Eric Krasno there :-)

peace,
kt
