two big downloads...(just warnin ya, its over 500mgs total...wav files so they can be burned straight to cd)

some early very interesting interviews interspersed between 5 live jams...she was promoting her first maverick release Plantation Lullabies...kinda cool to hear her early on in her career speaking about projects to come, and projects that she'd recently completed ( some that eventually were released and others that never saw the light of day as far as i know (such as the legendary Jimi Hendrix project she did) ...

but listening to her talk about her approach and attitude towards music back then all i could think was...

'damn...she has ALWAYS been ahead of the curve hasn't she? such a badass!'

anywayz, enjoy...

Derek, DERek, DEREK!!! Thank you SO much for this- megaupload has been TRYIN' to beat my ass this last 48 or so, but I gots it now, and I'm listening, and I'm LOVING! Not sure of your creed/faith/etc., but it's VERY Christmas where I am, and you have made mine WAY more funky: thank you, bless you, my VERY best to you and yours... Such random acts of kindness as this restore my faith in EVERYTHING!!! I wish I could hit you back with something even half as brilliant, but hey!... (meanwhile, anything else you got in this vein, knock it out at us!) XXX

Dayvirreh...
glad you liked it as much as i did. Smile
as for my creed/faith/etc...i'm kinda a non-specific non-demonational just happy to be around type...i don't follow a particular faith or docterine, (i just sorta grab the good stuff from wherever it comes Smile...so i celebrate it all in a way...so yeah whatever makes you and yours feel good and happy (and in this case 'funky' too), then its all good to me Wink...and right back atcha' with the well wishings to you and yours!

by the way, there's more goodies to come in the next few days...but i'm not tellin what just yet (once i actually get my hands on it ya'll will be the first to know)... Wink

Dayvirreh,
if you don't mind me asking, are you on a Mac or a PC? if you were on a PC did you have any problems extracting the zip files? like were you asked for a password or anything like that or were you able to just unzip it without any issues...(other than the large file size Smile)

Hey Derek-

I'm on a PC, and had no problem with these files. However, I couldn't open the zip file for the live tracks that you posted since in the Concerts forum. I wasn't asked for a password, just got a message saying the file may be corrupted (or something like that). I'm gonna try downloading again via the second link that was posted; I'll let you know how that works out for me.

And once again, thanks for sharing this music with us. Clap

Dayvirreh, what program are you using to unzip the mp3s? If you aren't already, I recommend the latest version of Winzip. You can get it at http://www.winzip.com Smile

What I'd be thrilled to hear (also) again is the version of "God Shiva" that KCRW used to have streamed on the site. It was around 1997 and I can't remember if it was a remix or just a different arrangement that Meshell did live on KCRW. There might be one or two others that remember that...
