to me, "bitter" is meshell's "purple rain"... her "innervisions"... her "off the wall"... her "the hissing of summer lawns"... her "aja"... her "catch a fire"... her "jt"... her "axis bold as love"... her "embrya"... her "funkentelechy vs. the placebo syndrome"... her "bright size life" her "the magazine"... her "love deluxe"... her "colour the small one"... her "stand!"... her "siamese dream"... her "bring on the night"... her "here, my dear"... her "the unforgettable fire"... her "in a silent way"... her "simple things"... all rolled into one.

my favorite album of all-time. it's why no matter what, i will always be an admirer of her's. not overproduced like some of her recent offerings. "bitter" speaks to everyone lyrically. it tells story - has a beginning and an end. it saves people - seriously - spend some time going through the comments on her myspace page.

meshell just put it out there and said take it or leave it. not very many artists can say that they've done that in their career...

and i think that's why most of us who have given "bitter" a chance (and are old enough to get it), can agree with what i just said - and the person at okp.

i can agree with everyone here...i think that all of meshell's music is beautiful, even the few songs that have become mainstream. But Bitter, is raw, open...she put her open wound on display and wanted everyone else to feel it...its an unselfish attempt to show people how to live, and overcome hurt...absolutely beautifull....
