peace- yesterday maverick put comfort woman on the schedule for a 10/14/03 release. they love the record and are excited to move forward. now the ball is in our court... we have to master it when meshell gets off the road and get it in. if the release date shifts, it will be because we blew it, not because of maverick. i'll let you know how we do. kofi

Hello ... in my humble opinion very good news - mostly if the papillon project is a-go for January 2004. I think that cross promotion is a key to the successful promotion of the maverick release , i know quiet a few people @ verve that are very excited about the papillon project and plan to WORK ... it's a good opprotunity to try something different and way closer to herself...and instead of hooking another track with missy/tweet etc ... really push out the musician side and go with it ... there has been a small yet significant ( in my opinion anyways ) shift in audiences' ( and therefore also in record companies') perception of "popular" music centering around the Norah Jones circus that these projects could easily ride on , if marketed right ...Funny i guested on a few radio shows abroad recently and played some tracks off "Cookie" and "Bitter" as well as "Poetry" off the "RH Factor" project ( which is incredible by the way ) and it seems to me like people there know who Bashir is far better then in the US ... Now i know first hand that there has been NO PROMOTIONAL EFFORTS for "Cookie" at the time of it's release in most european cities , but hopefully together with this Verve project some hype may built up to convince these record companies/marketers to do something differently this time around ...just my 2 . peace honestnotes

quote: now the question is, will she be doing a promotional TOUR for Papillion? ... with the new band? ... with the old band? ... with something altogether new? *selfishly hopeful sidenote: I miss Federico, Gene and Cato ... but I realize que todo cambia*

there was talk of papillon tour dates in europe in 2004, but i don't know... that's a ways off. i'm sure the more the current band plays together the more meshell & the band will feel comfortable doing more stuff from her catalog, possibly including some of the papillon stuff. and if anything it would be with the current band... but then again, who knows.
