i was snooping around on the web and found out that apparently Meshell was the featured artist on BETJ back in September...she was the artist in focus on one of their shows "Influences".

(FYI BETJ is a more 'grown up' offshoot of BET network. BETJ tends to focus more on classic R&B and Adult Contemprary R&B, Jazz, Reggae, Carribean, so-called NeoSoul whereas BET deals mainly in HipHop and younger PopR&B)

i received a request from betj via her myspace and forwarded it to her manager, but unfortunately, never heard anything again. you'd think that at least betj would've wanted to promote it... maybe they sent meshell.com an email to let them know when it aired haha...

so once again, i find myself feeling the need to (unnecessarily) apologize for this.

hopefully someone recorded it and it will eventually make its way online. (or in my hands and i'll put it up with the other 71 videos that are currently online...)

And yeah, i'm hoping for a re-broadcast sometime this year so that i can capture it and share...everyone keep your eyes and ears open!

they don't have betj here in seattle (at least, not on basic cable) and i don't watch bet (or mtv, for that matter.)

maybe they'll re-air it when her album comes out over here in august.

heheh...yeah me either man (i cant watch BET or MTV)...occasionally i'll watch VH1 Classic, and recently BETJ. BETJ was recently added to our programming here, and while i don't have a lot of time to watch tv, whenever i've tuned into BETJ they seem to cover a nice variety of stuff. (The other day they aired a nice Marvin Gaye concert from Montreux, once i caught the last part of a Seal show from somwhere in south America i think. They have this show where they go into the studio with bands and record them jamming (mostly Jazz artists). They do a lot of Jazz stuff old & new. I went through the programming for the upcoming week (looking for the Meshell show) and noticed that they are going to start showing that Montreux Jazz Festival program that used to air on another channel...who knows maybe an old episode with one of Meshells appearances will show up?

i like the vh1 shows where they remember various years from my childhood... those kind of shows i can watch if they're on in the background.

but if i see that reject from the flavor flav reality show on vh1 one more time, i'll never watch that network again. she always seems to be on.

my sister was telling me that i need to watch the white rapper show on mtv. i think i'd rather kill myself. (seriously)

Hey! Thank came out on my birthday. Unfortunately BETJ requires paying for an extra package with my cable co.

I'm sure if someone just called BET and asked when/if they planned on reairing it, we could get it done somehow. These types of stations LIVE off rebroadcasting stuff, so I'm sure it will be back on.

I've been known to hunt stuff like this down. The folks at ESPN know me well haha. ;-) (long story regarding some music I heard that I liked).

Anywho, life is currently kicking my butt, but if I get a minute I'll make some calls and see what I can find out.

Okay. Talked to Bryant over at BETJ. He's the head of programming. He says it will definitely be rebroadcast sometime during Black History Month, but he isn't positive of the date. I have his email, and he will let me know as soon as he finds out.
