Don't know if it has already been mentioned, but I saw a commercial for the movie "Talk To Me," starring Don Cheadle. At the end, it reads, soundtrack available on Atlantic Records featuring classic hits by The Dramatics, Otis Redding, James Brown, and new music by Meshell Ndegeocello!!!
July 13th and July 27th are the opening dates for the movie. Couldn't find any other info on the soundtrack, but here's a link for the movie description http://www.aceshowbiz.com/movie/talk_to_me/ and a link for the soundtrack, but they don't list any track information http://www.amazon.com/Talk-Me-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B0...id=1181196359&sr=8-1 It should be great! |

i put the info up in soundtracks (and maybe elsewhere on the site a month or so ago), but thank you big time for the update. i always worry something's not going to work out and folks are going to miss out on hearing a great track...
her cover wouldn't have been out of place on "peace beyond passion." very nicely done. something for everyone to look forward to |

"compared to what"... think more of the version that roberta flack did than the mya/common version

so the movie "Talk To Me" FINALLY opened in my area, we went to see it yesterday. Very cool flick with some wonderful acting performances, and great music. I loved it.
the good thing is...as the credits roll at the end, meshells cover of "Compared To What?" kick in loud and clear... the bad thing is..i now know that the version i have has been 'cleaned up' a bit because in the theater version you hear ALL the words in the song clearly whereas the copy of the song i purchased from itunes has certain phrases 'mumbled' out so that the curse words aren't audible... i wonder if the actual cd version of the song is 'mumbled out' like the itunes version, or if the cd version is uncensored like the version in the movie? Did anyone purcase the cd? If there is an uncensored version on the cd i'll just go buy that (those 'backwards mumbles' to make songs 'clean' always kinda bug me...i wanna hear the song exactlly as the artist intended it, curse words or not...) which reminds me...I wonder if an uncensored version of her song 'Isolation' is available out there anywhere (there were 'backwards mumbles' applied to that one as well)... anyway...i really enjoyed and recommend the movie(I'll probably see it again), and also recommend the soundtrack too if you don't already have the classic songs that are on it...its a nice collection. |

Has anyone found a copy of the movie version of the song? I realized it's not only the explicit lyrics that are "mumbled," but also movie dialogue removed, and perhaps a slightly different horn arrangement.
