enjoy...guitarist is KILLIN in this one! Its also cool to hear some of the earlier approaches to some of the new songs in this Rome set and then to listen to the differences in the later shows in Budapest and Zurich...

I am so with ya on this m. Like you said, absolutely no offense meant to anyone...but Seversons guitar on this show STILL blows my mind everytime i play this set (and that's quite a bit Wink

Lately I'll play the Rome set, followed by the Budaphest set and then pop in Zurich...there are certain elements in each of them that stand out to me, and in Rome the standout is most definitely Seversons guitar on these tracks. (Evidence of this is that, when the Rome cd is playing in my car while i'm driving, if you are in the car next to me and happen to look over in my direction you will often be able to see a brother in the midst of some SERIOUS face-squinting frenzy-fingered air-guitarplaying Wink

i agree. there are versions of songs that i'd rather hear from different concerts. the "love song #1" i'd rather hear the one that's on her myspace page than the one from the rome set.

jon jon webb was incredible... every time i've heard that song since then, it's played the same way on the album. he messed around with it a little, and you could hear how much meshell was digging it because she was vocal about it.

Yeah man, for some reason i get the impression that some of those Comfort Woman tour shows get overlooked by some folks. I don't know if my impression is real or not, maybe everyone digs them too, but in my opinion they are simply fantastic! I mean, so often they were able to create such space and atmosphere on that tour....and they got the polyrythm thing going...and Sy Smith....(the 'Love Song #1' version that you mention on Myspace is a great example)...i ended up LOVING what i heard from that tour. (even though i was still dealing in my own way with the Bretheren disbanding Wink.

Yeah that Comfort Woman tour was really special no doubt...it had a soothing grooving spacey vibe to it. I may just have to go listen to something from that era now...'Love Song #1' here i come...

Thanks Derek. You rock harder than a boulder. This guitar player is sick, but seeing Allen Cato during the Comfort Woman tour in NYC I dig him a little better.
