I finally got my own copy of the CD a couple of days ago. I've given it a few spins, and, wow... I
LOVE it!! The music, the groove, the atmosphere created as I listen - it all adds up to an A+ effort for me

So far, "The Chosen" is a stand-out in my opinion, particularly for the way that Cassandra Wilson transmits Meshell's "voice" in performing the vocals on that song. It's as if Meshell is "there", but she is not singing herself, if you all get my meaning. "Heaven" with Lalah Hathaway on vocals is another hot number on this CD. Hell, I like every single cut on this CD...LOL!
It's still early, but
I've just gotta say that I am one happy camper, as I listen to "Dance of the Infidel". It was worth the wait, and then some... I hope that Meshell and co. record/perform more of this music, or material in the same spirit, in the future.
And, I
still feel that it's a damned shame that so many folks in the audience at the Chicago show could not open up their hearts/minds/souls and appreciate what Meshell and 'em were layin' down on stage. She didn't have to sing
one note, since, in my opinion, the music was speaking for her, and the rest of the band.
OK...Let me get off this rant, and leave it alone. I'll just close by saying, "Buy this record"!
