So i just inherited my wifes old Ipod (I bought her a new 'Touch' so that i could get her old 6O gig regular version).
This will be my first Ipod so i was going through stacks of my cd's trying to decide what to import and upload first...I came across two cds i'd forgotten i'd had...by a group "Skunk Anansie" . Anybody else remember this group? For those that don't, "Skunk Anansie" was a band in the 90's that i happened to come across when i was working in a record store...and they KICKED ASS!!! Unfortunately they have disbanded since then but the records i have are really REALLY good. Kinda on the heavy rock side of the spectrum, very powerful but with very nice melodies and really interesting arrangements and amazing AMAZING vocals. They were an interracial band, i believe from the UK. Their lead singer was a bald black chick known as 'Skin' (real name Deborah Dyer) and she was fierce!! She had both amazing power & range AND subtlety and sensitivity...the combination of which was jawdropping at times. Anyway like i said, they were really REALLY good in my opinion. I have three of their records, but i could only find two of em so far. ("Post Orgazmic Chill" and "Paranoid & Sunburnt", the other one is "Stoosh" and i think i have that somewhere too so i'm trying to dig it out from my unorganized collection I may try to up a sample or two...but was just re-living some of my fond 'record store memories' and thought i'd share |

From the official MySpace of Skin (the lead singer who had a solo career making 2 excellent albums those last years):
"Skunk Anansie separated in 2001 and the members went their separate ways, but still kept in contact with each other. Those rumours are true! Details are still being worked out and we're awaiting final conformation but Skunk Anansie are set to reunite later this year or early next year to rock our worlds with their amazing sound. Skin would like to say that neither her or Cass were interviewed by The Sun, who ran this story in their 'Bizarre' section (but they did call Skunk Anansie "brilliant" which we agree with 100%!). Things aren't 100% official yet but watch this space for more information!" |
