I'm confused. I'm listening to Planet Earth (only two songs into it), and maybe it's the lack of sleep speaking, but I'm actually enjoying this. I even found myself air-guitaring to Planet Earth. What's wrong with this picture?
Then again, I also have a soft spot for The Gold Experience. |

that's because it's a good album
"guitar" is the only throwaway track for me. i'm not feeling some of the lyrics (shake it like a juicy juice) and song titles (baby mama - what is this, ricki lake?), but i'm enjoying the album otherwise. i haven't had a chance to read the lyrics to "lion of judah," but i am loving the music from that song the most. i'm also digging the quick drum breakdown in "chelsea rodgers." it's also nice to hear wendy & lisa in the vocal arrangement(s)... i didn't realize how much i missed them until now. would love to see one of the london shows. apparently wendy is there with him, and nikka costa is opening. to be honest, at this point, i'd rather see her live and hear new material by her. she gives one of the live performances i've ever seen. her 2001 performance in seattle might be my all-time favorite. it was everything you could ask for in a live performance. it made me a fan for life. |

Confused? Are you wearing loafers too?
I swear you two aren't gonna make me sit through that album again. I mean I swore to myself that once I finished building my studio, I would sit at mix position and give a good third listen to a certain highly regarded disc around here from '99. If I was only able to make it halfway through that (admittedly good album, just not my speed), then I've definitely got to put a good 12 or 13 years between myself and the last five years of Prince output. And for the record, I loved every Wendy & Lisa album I got. No help. BTW, ditto on Nikka. Absotively in my top 5 favorite stage shows. Also one of my best live audio recordings (I was able to set my recorder on stage in front of the speaker). I'm going to see B.B. tonight with Al Green. Hopefully Chaka will be there too (get well soon, Etta). Now as along as she doesn't sing anything from Come 2 My House , it's all good. |

not loafers... stacy adams! (morris would be proud)
van hunt had a lot to do with rahsaan patterson's last album. (maybe why it was spectacular.) i put van on meshell's top friends on myspace in the hope that van will see it and ask to work with her (like raul midon did...) |

Hey K'Trazz,
That song, "Dance With Yesterday" is bad to the bone!! Is it on an album yet? Does Joi have any other songs with the Minneapolis sound? I'd like to hear more. |

Hey Chellie,
Yeah you can find it on her 2006 independent disc Tennessee Slim is the BOMB. Grab it. Once you get past Uncle George's "relationships" you've got a pretty good disc with only a couple of missteps. Better yet, get a hold of Star Kitty's Revenge. Far more consistently phat. BTW, she's a bit of a P-Funk godchild who blends funk, rock, and hip-hop. Check out Joilicious Online and listen to her Radio Blog for a sampling of her sound. I'm So Famous is my favorite track on the album. Dance With Yesterday was the only Minnea-sounding track she's done. This song just frustrates me because I just KNOW that The Family's new album will probably end up sounding more like Pandemonium than this. ~K'Trazz P.S. No Chaka last night. But Al & B.B. and their ridiculously fine tuned bands tore the roof off. This message has been edited. Last edited by: K'Trazz, |
