Ya'll please read that "Meshells Myspace...?" post, and then if you can, please go to the "Support" button at the top right of FreeMyHeart.com and click on it...give whatever you can spare, no matter how little or how much, you can leave yor name or do it annonymously. Its secure, (the transaction is handled by Amazon.com) and its EASY and quick (especially if you've already got an Amazon account. a few seconds and you're done).
But If you are not comfortable donating via internet, then if you are able, send whatever you can to the address on the front of the FreeMyHeart site...

look ya'll... the ONLY consistent source of reliable and often exclusive inside info for the past TEN years has been THIS site right here...FreeMyHeart.com...which is run for FREE by M...he doesn't ask for payment from the label or donations or even 'thanks' for that matter...he just asks for INFORMATION so that he can help promote the artist whos work we all enjoy...

The way i see it, i have been the beneficiary of much of the information that he HAS gotten over those years. Because of Freemyheart, over the years I have purchased Meshell/Meshell connected CDs that i would not have known about, gone to concerts that i would not have known about, watched Meshell connected TV shows & movies that i would not have known about, bought Meshell related DVDs & magazines that i would not have known about, got some other folks that I know hooked on Meshell who THEY would not have known about, donated to causes that i would not have known about, made connections and freindships with people who i would not have known about...and so on and so on...if it weren't for FreeMyHeart.com...i would have MISSED OUT on so much of Meshells music that it AINT EVEN funny. But its true.

As for the mysace thing...with the 'myspace phenomena' so popular these days (its in all the news and on the general publics radar), i thought the Meshell myspace was a great idea to continue to increase Meshells exposure to the general public...it was a great idea executed rather nicely too (it looked better, functioned better, and had more content than any other artists 'official' myspace sites that i've seen). It seemed to be working too...(did you see all of the folks who would comment on there? every day there were more folks who would be suprised about shows releases or who were just glad to be in the loop).

So yeah, with my space being so popular with folks these days, that MeshellMyspace seemed to be working. But the Meshellmyspace site wasn't 'offical' (meaning it wasn't run by someone officially working for meshells label/management). Nope, that myspace site was dreamed up and run by you know who...again, for FREE, in his OWN spare time. But, apparently becuase this wasn't 'official', they had the site taken down.

With the longstanding show of reliable support and free promotion that m has shown, it doesn't make sense to me why someone 'officially' in charge of trying to promote an artist on their roster would (A) not provide at least basic info to 'non-official' marketing outlets that are ALREADY in place and that ALREADY have regular visits from old, new and potential fans/customers (marketing outlets like FMH & the Mehsell definitive Myspace)...and even worse (B) shut one of these 'non-official' marketing outlets down, in spite of its obvious success.

nope it doesn't make sense to me.

why not REACH OUT to this guy who, on his own, has ALREADY been consistently trying to promote your artist for ten years?

Why not say... 'hey m, you've obviously already got the passion and abilty so we know you'll do a good job...you've already got the avenue(s) in place on the web to reach people...how about we work WITH you to help maximize the information and marketing potential thats there?'

i don't know why not. But i know that i'll be damned if i let freemyheart go anywhere without a fight...

so, give whatever you can folks, do whatever it is you can think of doing to show some support for our little corner of the web world FMH and the cat behind the curtain whos been making it happen...

thank you derek... you've always been there for support (not just financial). as for money, i've always tried to put it back into the site. i know with my completely redoing the site this month, i'm going to be over my bandwidth limit. the place i host the site at sucks, but i won't move it because then i'd lose all of the polylogue (message board) posts that people have made.

that said, i'm not hurting for money... it's never been about that. as long as i have food for myself and my cats, am able to pay rent, it's all good. even when i was unemployed after 9/11, it wasn't an issue... (or at least, i don't remember it being one)

i worry my reply in the myspace post comes across as petty or mean towards meshell or her management, but my reply was made out of frustration and knowing that her music has affected people and some people have come across her music because of this site... or because of the some other post someone made on a site like okayplayer... and it is just upsetting to me that there will be people that will live there lives without experiencing what we have because outlets that SHOULD be being used are not...

that sounds sort of fanatic, but i guess that's okay. i mean, it's all about the music and her talent and sharing that with others... and when i allow myself to think about it, it's so frustrating that something so easy to do (communicating) <i>still</i> isn't being done.

maybe i should focus my passion for music towards something else since it only seems to get me into trouble. lol...

anyways. thanks for the kind words... and for your continued support Derek. you're one of the main reasons this site is still online. i like to think that there are more people out there that might come across the info provided here that might influence them to listen to meshell (or prince, or lalah hathaway, etc), and have the same experience we've had.

okay, back to redoing the site... redoing? a few months ago, i was told that i should change all of the "Me'Shell"s to Meshell and all of the "NdegéOcello"s to Ndegeocello.

that's just one of about 10 things i'm manually changing on every page (about 700) on this site. ugh. lol
