so i saw the image of this DVD on the site today...
i've heard some talk that its a good film... I've never seen it myself...but I've got an 11 year old daughter who LOVES anime'...is this film ok for her to see? (I'm no prude by any means, but i just wanna be sure theres not any adult oriented 'bucknakedness' goin on in this flick...the other day i almost bought her some anime tape that i THOUGHT was for kids until i read the little warning stamp on the back) so is Spirited Away ok? |

it's from the same director as "princess mononoke"... i recommend renting that first...
in my opinion, he's one of the best storytellers out there today (and i've only seen 2 of his films)... i believe it would be okay for your daughter... i wouldn't have a problem showing my daughter if she was 11... (and if i had a daughter... heheh) his films always have larger issues that you can talk about afterwards... (not just popcorn movies you forget about 5 minutes after the films end) let me know what you think |

i totally agree! spirited away is such a beautiful film. this is a film that will inspire commentary on a deeper level after you have watched it. i think you will be pleasantly surprised with this one. not only was the animation and production wonderful, the whole film from script to its direction is amazing. disney ain't got nothin' that even comes close!

I haven't had a chance to see this film, but I love anime. It's interesting that this art form is branching out and sometimes leaving the very dark, apocalyptic "Neo-Tokyo, post WWIII" stories I like, to something softer and more lyrical. I hope your daughter enjoys the film.

Great movie. Definitely deserved the Oscar. If your kids can handle parents being turned into pigs, they can handle this. I'm about to watch "Grave of the Fireflies".
